Memorial Scholarship Concert to honor Sarah Anderson

symphonic-bandA Memorial Scholarship Concert in honor of Sarah Anderson will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Opelika Performing Arts Center at Opelika High School. To celebrate the life of Anderson, Auburn University’s symphonic winds and the Opelika High School symphonic band will share the stage in reflection and remembrance. The concert was previously scheduled for Nov. 16, the day of Anderson’s funeral. She was a member of the symphonic, concert and marching bands during her time at Auburn. Her life ended unexpectedly due to a car accident Nov. 10. In addition to participating in many Auburn University music ensembles, Sarah was also a music major studying flute. The symphonic winds will feature Karen Garrison, flute professor, on Gary Shocker’s “Regrets and Resolutions.” The concert is free to the public. Donations are encouraged and will be used to initiate the Sarah Anderson Memorial Scholarship through Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary band service fraternity in which Anderson was a devoted member. If anyone would like to contribute to the fund but is unable to attend, you may send a check or money order to: Kappa Kappa Psi, Sarah Anderson Memorial Scholarship, 132 Goodwin Music Building; Auburn University, AL 36849-5421.
