First Auburn Philosophy Conference to examine beauty
The Auburn University Philosophy Department in the College of Liberal Arts is hosting its first annual conference March 5-7. The topic for the inaugural conference is beauty. The conference will feature 14 speakers from England, Canada, Israel and America, including a keynote address by Richard Moran of Harvard University on "Kant, Proust, and the Appeal of Beauty." There are three days of talks, starting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the Ralph Brown Draughon Library Auditorium. The talks continue Friday and Saturday at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, from 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday's talks will be followed by a reception hosted by the students of the Philosophy Club at 7 p.m. at Terra Cotta Cafe (415 E. Magnolia Avenue). Please come and help extend a warm Auburn welcome to our speakers. This conference has been made possible by the support of the College of Liberal Arts, the Provost's Office, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art and the Auburn University Department of Philosophy.
