Darwin celebration continues with Liberal Arts interdisciplinary panel

charles_darwin_lMembers of the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts will convene for an interdisciplinary look at evolution on Monday, March 2, at 3 p.m. in 112 Rouse Life Sciences Building as part of the Charles Darwin Commemorative Celebration. Members of the panel will include: Chris Qualls, assistant professor in the Department of Theater; Elizabeth Brestan Knight, associate professor in the Department of Psychology; Giovanna Summerfield, associate professor in Foreign Languages and Literatures; and Brigitta Brunner, Margaret Fitch-Hauser and Robert French, professors in the Department of Communication and Journalism. They will offer varying interpretations of Darwin and evolution from perspectives within the arts and humanities. The panel, sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts, has been organized to emphasize the broad use of Darwinian terms within a variety of disciplines. The panel is directed to a general audience interested in the way the humanities has extrapolated and expanded on the ideas associated with evolution and Darwin.
