Auburn University Community Orchestra to perform Saturday
The Auburn University Community Orchestra and Music Director Howard Goldstein are pleased to announce their upcoming concert at the Opelika Center for the Performing Arts, Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. The program begins with Felix Mendelssohn's "Reformation" Symphony, performed to honor the composer's 200th birthday this year. The Auburn University Concert Choir, the Civic Chorale and mezzo-soprano Anne Duraski will then join the orchestra to perform Sergei Prokofiev's rousing cantata Alexander Nevsky, drawn from the music he composed for the 1938 film of the same name. The concert is sponsored by the Arts Association of East Alabama, Auburn Arts Association and the Auburn University Department of Music.
