Tuskegee professor to present ‘The New Face of Sexual Oppression’

The Women's Studies Program together with the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs will present a free public lecture by professor Mujah Shakir. "The New Face of Sexual Oppression: Is Healing Possible?" will take place Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 12:15 p.m. in 2216 Student Center. Shakir is an affiliate of the Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care. She is a doctoral candidate with the California Institute of Integral Studies, Humanities Transformative Learning and Change, San Francisco, California. Her dissertation is an oral history project that deals with the impact of the Tuskegee syphilis study on the lives of contemporary women living in Tuskegee and Macon County. She is also a diversity trainer and group facilitator who has worked with community groups for many years on social justice issues.
