College of Liberal Arts accepting tote bags for recycling project
The Association of Visual Artists, a student organization in the Department of Art, is looking for donations of unused, unwanted conference tote bags. The conference logos on the tote bags will be creatively painted over by art students and then donated to the Community Market, a division of the Lee County Food Bank, to give to the 900 families who depend on the organization to put food on their tables. These recycled, painted bags will be given to the families for continued use, thus reducing the need for plastic bags. If you would like to donate your conference tote bags for painting, there is a donation box in the dean's office of the College of Liberal Arts in 2046 Haley Center or contact Barb Bondy at bondybj@auburn.edu or Christy Wynne at wynnecl@auburn.edu to arrange a pick up. The goal is to paint the bags throughout the semester and present them to the Community Market in late spring.
