Scale Back Alabama weight-loss competition starts Monday
Auburn University employees and students will have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming Scale Back Alabama statewide weight-loss competition, a 10-week program that begins with a statewide weigh-in Jan. 12-16. Auburn's weigh-ins will be done that week as well. The program is designed to help people lose weight in a healthy manner by exercising and eating sensibly. The competition involves teams of four people, each of whom must lose at least 10 pounds to be eligible for the grand prizes ranging from $250 to $1,000 per team member. For those who lose at least the necessary 10 pounds but their teammates do not, they will be eligible for one of 50 achievement prizes of $100. To be eligible for one of the prizes, you must participate in both an official weigh-in and an official weigh-out and lose 10 pounds during the program. Auburn University will offer three weigh-in sites for employees and students during the week of Jan. 12-16. To see the list of locations and times, visit http://www.auburn.edu/administration/governance/staff/scaleback.htm. Team members are asked to weigh-in at the same location and have a registration form filled out prior to meeting at a weigh-in site. Late night snacks were a nightmare for me. I found that eating bread (sandwiches) at a late hour, meant that I gained a lot of weight. Nothing beats exercise though!

That will be an exciting contest. People will lose weight the best when they exercise and eat high-fiber. May the skinniest person win!
