School of Nursing presenting emergency preparedness mock hospital
The School of Nursing, in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Public Health, will host an emergency preparedness mock hospital unit Thursday, Dec. 4. The display will be located on the pedestrian area in front of gates 14-18 at the stadium (area closest to Donahue). The demonstration will showcase disaster training and technology used by the Alabama Department of Public Health. Auburn's senior nursing students will be taking part in a three-day immersion experience to orient themselves with all aspects of public health. Public Health professionals will share their knowledge with students and offer them opportunities to use problem-based learning while taking real-life scenarios and developing practical solutions to problems. Nursing students will also participate in the emergency preparedness exercise utilizing the mobile medical station and interoperable communication vehicle which is capable of connecting communications systems worldwide. The university community is invited to visit the mobile medical station on Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
