Alcohol Awareness Week events planned for this week

During the week of Oct. 20, the Auburn University Student Government Association, the Office of Greek Life, Freshman Year Experience, Student Counseling Services, and the Auburn University Parents' Association will sponsor Alcohol Awareness Week in hopes of benefiting Auburn's campus and student body by promoting safety and creating awareness, responsibility, and education about alcohol abuse and prevention. A DUI/DWI simulator will be brought on campus Tuesday from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Roosevelt and Duncan, across the street from the stadium parking deck. On Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., a luminary course will begin at Samford lawn and will run downtown and throughout campus. Auburn students and faculty are encouraged to participate in the lighting of 1,500 candles, representing the number of people who are likely to die nationwide during the month of October in alcohol-related incidents.
