An important message from the Dean of Students and the Director of Athletics
We invite you to join us in supporting our student athletes and the sportsmanship initiative they launched last year. Called “Auburn Pride,” the program promotes team unity and encourages good sportsmanship across all 21 sports. It is important to know that our student athletes started this initiative. Sportsmanship and community service are the legacies they want to leave behind when their playing days are over. The Auburn Pride Sportsmanship Code is read prior to every Auburn Athletics event held on campus. Many of our student athletes wear orange Auburn Pride bracelets that emphasize the four main points of the program: competition, tradition, the moment and the opponent. Through the good work of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President A.J. Mills and SGA President Lauren Hayes, the sportsmanship message is now being carried to the student body. Student leaders are now wearing the orange bracelets as well, and you will see signs urging your support of the program. From a student body perspective, the program emphasizes respect, urging us all to “have dignity and honor while being considerate to others.” That means we should all respect our opponents and visiting fans. We deeply appreciate your fervent support of the student athletes who represent Auburn with class and integrity. Let’s also do our part to embrace “Auburn Pride.”
