Linda LoudermilkThe 2008 Grisham/Trentham Design Symposium will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, in the auditorium of The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. This year's distinguished lecturer is apparel designer and sustainability activist Linda Loudermilk. Using organic textiles made from sources including bamboo, seaweed, and corn, Loudermilk blends design in apparel and other consumer goods with eco-responsibility. She has been named one of the top 20 innovators in her field to watch. In addition to the lecture, competitive designs by Auburn students in apparel and interiors will be on display.

The Grisham/Trentham Lecture series was established in 1986 by Consumer Affairs Professor Gary Trentham, who is now retired. Its purpose is to give students exposure to internationally respected experts in the fields of design and fashion. In addition to Trentham, the lectureship also bears the name of sponsoring benefactors Betty Grisham and her late husband, Charles, an Auburn graduate.
